The Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) is the data controller for all personal data processed through the IFE Learning Platform. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under registration number [ICO-REG]. Our registered address is #23 Ferrier Circular, Guayaguayare Village, Trinidad W.I..
2. What data we collect
We collect data you provide directly (name, email address, professional details, payment information) and data generated by your use of the platform (course progress, CPD records, assessment submissions, log-in timestamps, and device/browser information). We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
3. How we use your data
Your data is used to deliver the IFE Learning Platform services, process payments, send transactional emails (receipts, assessment results, CPD reports), provide customer support, and improve the platform. We may also send you relevant product and CPD updates — you can opt out at any time from your account settings.
4. Legal basis for processing
We process your data under the following legal bases: contractual necessity (to deliver the services you have paid for), legitimate interests (platform security, fraud prevention, service improvement), legal obligation (tax records, regulatory compliance), and consent (marketing communications, optional cookies).
5. Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active and for 90 days after account deletion, after which data is permanently purged. CPD records and qualification certificates are retained for 7 years to satisfy regulatory requirements. Anonymised, aggregated usage data may be retained indefinitely for analytics.
6. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, and port your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact our Data Protection Officer at community@IFECASA.org. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the ICO at ico.org.uk.
